Folklore 013: The Red Petal Canon

Mount Hua believed memory should be cultivated like a garden and disciplined like a blade.

Its sky-islands held archives, potion rooms, monasteries, terraces, and people who crossed the world for forgotten texts. The Red Petal Canon taught that a record was not preserved merely by locking it away. It had to be copied, questioned, carried, and sometimes protected from those who feared its truth.

Many of Mount Hua’s scholars were exiles, castaways, and seekers who arrived with incomplete pasts. They built libraries because memory had failed them personally.

The Canon’s last surviving line reads: A petal falls without being lost; the tree remembers where it grew.
